dvips - converts the dvi files created by LaTeX into Postscript form.
ispell - a spelling checker: this is the one used by hitting the "spell" button in xemacs. It uses English rather than American spelling.
latex2html Latex to html converter; a copy of this manual is available in Room 29AB22. For sensible output, use the option: -html_version 3.1
xfig -
editor for diagrams that can create Encapsulated Postscript output
suitable for inclusion as Latex figures. (If the link doesn't work,
look for it in the help menu of xfig itself.) If you want to include
maths formulae within xfig, you can try latex2eps (below)
to create little eps images of the formulae which you can then import
into xfig.
latex2eps: a Perl script for writing bits of LaTeX (e.g. mathematical formulae) as .eps files. Useful within figures (e.g. xfig).
eps2pdf: a Perl script for turning .eps into pdf files (without turning them into whole pages like ps2pdf does).
ps2epsi - gives PostScript files the correct bounding box for inclusion in Latex figures; also adds a "preview image".
lyx - effectively a WYSIWYG front end to Latex. Currently seems to have vanished - ask for help if you want it. Comprehensive documentation included in package. (The "XFig" section in the UserGuide contains a very useful section on how to include LaTeX mathematical formulae in PostScript figures.) You can also export your document as plain ASCII or HTML. Not that good - you really should sit down and learn Latex.
