Hints for LaTeX to PDF conversion

Many people find that, if they use the standard conversion utilities: ps2pdf, dvipdf, and then display using acroread, the display on the screen is terrible, although it prints ok. Remedies:

• If the version of Ghostscript (try gs -version) that underlies ps2pdf or dvipdf is 6.50 or later, the problem should not happen. Occasionally you need to use the -Ppdf option.
• Should this not work, a simple fix is to copy these two files - ~ees1wc/.dvipsrc and ~ees1wc/.cm.map - to your home directory, and then to run ps2pdf or dvipdf on any Linux machine (e.g. tank, neo).
