Region Growing Segmentation package

This package is for segmentation of two-dimensional fields (e.g. images or a feld of motion vectors). The method basically works by recursively growing a region from a seed according to a homogeneity criterion. In this package the type of field, the way of selecting the seeds, the homogeneity criterion and the next pixel to be processed can be varied through the use of templated classes.

According to literature, region growing on images is usually preceded by a filtering step and followed by some kind of post-processing to avoid the formation of tiny regions.
